Assessments for Specific Learning Difficulties:

To determine if your child meets the criteria for a specific learning disorder. The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - V (Australia/New Zealand version) (WISC) and the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test-III (Australian/New Zealand version) are used. If something else comes up that may need investigation we can talk about it and decide next steps together.

Neuropsychological Assessments:

A neuropsychological assessment explores the relationship between the brain and everyday functioning. The purpose is to provide an understanding of how a person thinks, learns and processes the world. This type of assessment is especially helpful when there are concerns about learning, attention, behaviour, memory, overall development, after a head injury, or in the case of cognitive decline.

Who are these assessments for?

Adults

  • Recovering from concussion, stroke, brain injury or neurological illness

  • Experiencing memory, attention, or cognitive changes

  • Seeking clarification of ADHD, learning disorders, or other neurodevelopmental conditions

  • Wanting to understand cognitive strengths and vulnerabilities for work or study

  • Needing documentation for workplace accommodations or tertiary support

  • Worries about cognitive changes due to aging

Children

  • Attention, concentration, or organisational challenges

  • Behavioural or emotional concerns

  • Developmental delays

  • Neurological or medical conditions

  • Unclear diagnostic questions

  • Suspicion of a neurodevelopmental condition such as ADHD, Autism

A comprehensive neuropsychological assessment can offer clarity, direction, and a personalised plan for moving forward as well as help to guide intervention planning, therapy, and specialist referrals.

The total cost for a comprehensive neuropsychological assessment is $2450. This includes all materials, assessment sessions, scoring and interpretation, the full written report, and feedback meeting.

The Process:

The first step is to fill out the contact form. This will give us information about your concerns. If you are not sure, please say so and we can figure it out together.

From there, we will set up some appointment times to complete the assessment activities. Assessments are usually completed over two (sometimes more) sessions.

Before the appointments you will be sent some forms to complete. After the appointments, additional information is gathered e.g. from school, through questionnaires. A full report will then be written and sent to you, with the opportunity to discuss the findings.

As each child is unique and every situation is different the assessment process and follow up may be different for each family.

Cancellation Policy:

At Unlock Psychology we understand that things change and people get sick, but in order to work as efficiently as possible there is a 24 hr cancellation policy.  If you can not make the appointment or are sick please notify me at least 24hrs in advance. 

Cancellations and postponements within 24hrs of the appointment will result in a $250 cancellation fee.
